uh....i decided to help out another site as a proof reader. about the only job i can do since i can't translate anything cept french (badly) or spanish, and i can't edit anything cuz i have terrible programs.

well neways, its going alright (now i know what you mean about dead lines!! ahhh, she emailed me this 6 page thing to edit and she wants it tommorow. I know its not alot of pages, but editing for grammer and stuff when you don't really know what's going on is a lil difficult)

ok...to get to the point. I need help. She wrote (mukatsuku kurai ne) and translated it as it irritated me. but she's pretty sure thats wrong. unforunetly i cant guess from the following dialogue what it could mean. I dont even know what if thats chinese or japaneese, i didn't ask cuz I get it in english of course.

So any guesses?? **Wink Wink** at risu our translating guru ^_^

p.s....oh and i know by looking at the way i type here, your prolly thinking "Her a proofreader, but she's a terrible typist"...but when im typing and writing for real, i do pay attention and write correctly.

I'd need more of the dialogue to be able to say for sure, because there's no subject and verb stated and it could be any of several implied.

If given JUST that, my first rendition would be "it's about enough to make me pissed off, you know?"

But it could also be referring to something irritating the "you" person that the speaker is talking to, or something about an irritating/infuriating/unbearable situation they're both going through, or even the speaker's expression of sympathy for the other person's unbearable situation (like a "you must be really ticked right about now, huh?" or "how do you stand it?")

Japanese is a heavily connotative and referential language. Isolated snippets are rarely enough to give reliable translations from, because what people mean in a particular situation really strongly depends on what has just been said and what the general point of conversation has been...

do you have any of the surrounding dialogue available in Japanese?

no thats all i have in the japanese. this is what she wrote to make it easier for me to understand, but since i can't translate the japanese i don't know.

Yuzu: ??It irritated me?? (mukatsuku kurai ne)Shin is shock hearing it. Yuzu?s face is a little bit blushing, not looking at Shin
Shin: ?U?WA---!?
?You surprised me.? My hand is sweating
Yuzu: ?Don?t expect something deep! (okay, I know all these sound confusing, but it is what it?s says. I don?t get it either. I think ?irritated? is not the right word?from ?mukatsuku?, means to feel sick, to feel irritated, to feel offended.?)
Shin: ?But you think it?s cool, right? That is the first time you said it!? (now I know that ?irritated? word is wrong >_<?)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">does that help??...i was thinking that by the way the character was reacting, blushing etc, that maybe excite/stimulated/aroused. but then irritated isnt even close to those words so i dont know

It looks to me like mukatsuku's not the only thing not correctly understood there. There's always more to the conversation than is literally written down, and the normal lack of subject and object identifiers only compounds the problem. And I can't help from English that may or may not be a correct interpretation. I need the Japanese in order to know what's actually going on...

I'd also need more than what's written there - a page or two around it, some kind of way of knowing what the two speakers are to each other, and what it is they're talking about...

darn....oh well. thats all i got. the surrounding text has NOTHING to do with that. Im going to say what you said, and what i said. She can pick between the two. I think she has another proofreader working as well so maybe they will come up with something similar.

Ill see if she wants to send me more of the japanese.
